MY LETU STORY: Beau Weber

NOTE: This is part of a series on letuathletics.com with feature stories written by senior student-athletes about their time at LeTourneau and the impact it has made on them.

By: Beau Weber | Sr. | Men's Soccer

I am Beau Weber, a senior from Cecilia, Louisiana, and a three-year captain from the men’s soccer team here at LeTourneau.

My experience here has been one of hardships and injuries, but also one full of memories with lifelong friends, unforgettable experiences, and lasting lessons. I came to LeTourneau not knowing a single person, but the community here and the team I am so lucky to be a part of has become an important part of my life.

Being a student-athlete has been a difficult feat. Many of us can relate that traveling, scheduling, and the mental commitment to our sports takes a toll. However, it has always been worth it for the family we find here with our team. Our team dynamic has always been to support each other on and off the pitch. Growing together and supporting each other to become the best men we can be.

When you reflect like this just before it is all over, you begin to realize how much it meant to you. The school, the program, and the friends. It means everything to me to have had such a great experience here.

I am studying biomedical engineering, a fulfilling but strenuous major. My studies have prepared me for the world of engineering I hope to get involved in. I have learned so much here at LeTourneau, and I owe a lot of thanks to the academic staff for being so committed to us.

Thanks to the athletic staff of LeTourneau, I have witnessed the athletic programs here grow more and more professional. My biggest goal here was to always grow the program so that when I leave, I can look back and be proud of my accomplishments. I can only hope that my effort and dedication to the program was noticed by the guys I did it for.

When I think back, I remember the late study nights and the long, uncomfortable bus rides, but I also remember the great memories and the friends I’ve made along the way. The friends that have come and gone, the ones that I will graduate with, and the ones that I will leave behind.

The time here passes fast, however, I am prepared to pass the torch down to the next guys up like the ones before me. This is the beauty of collegiate programs.

One of the most important things I have learned while being a student-athlete is that no matter if you are one of the 11, 5, 6, or 9 starters on your team, you still have a role on that team. This role can vary a lot but that is the artistry of a team. Sometimes before you can be a significant player you have to fill bottles, but there is always someone watching. The humble, unseen roles on a team are the ones that keep things together and moving in a positive direction. The small details matter.

When you reflect like this just before it is all over, you begin to realize how much it meant to you. The school, the program, and the friends. It means everything to me to have had such a great experience here.

Thank you all who have affected my life in these last four years.
