The LeTourneau University softball team secured its second-straight conference series with a 5-3 win over the University of the Ozarks on Wednesday.

The YellowJackets (9-3, 4-2 ASC) rallied from a 1-0 deficit in third inning when junior
Megan Hill led off the inning with a solo home run to tie the game. Later in the frame, freshman
Madison Gray put LETU ahead 3-1 when she hit a two-run home run for her first career home run.

Ashley Burdine raised her record to 3-0, pitching 5 innings, allowing seven hits, three runs (all earned) and striking out one. Offensively for LETU, sophomore
Courtney Matulis had two hits to pace a seven-hit attack for the YellowJackets.

The Eagles (2-4, 2-4 ASC) outhit LeTourneau by an 8-7 margin but they stranded nine runners on base in the loss.

LETU held a 3-1 lead until they plated two runs on a pinch-hit, two-RBI double by freshman
Nikole Williams in the sixth. Earlier in the inning, junior
Rachel Gauspohl led off the frame with a single to left field. She promptly stole second, then after back to-back outs, junior
Taylor Kaderli advanced Gauspohl to third with a single down the right-field line. Next, the LETU coaching staff went to the Tomball, Texas native and Williams answered the call after Kaderli stole second with a double to left center scoring two for a 5-1 lead in favor of the YellowJackets.

Ozarks mounted a comeback in its half of the inning, loading the bases to start the inning. The YellowJackets went to senior
Kaylee Pritchett to close out the game. The Eagles plated its first run on a hit-by-pitch and another on a RBI single but she got out of the jam with a pair of ground outs to come away with her first save of the season.

LeTourneau will next host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor for a three-game series, starting with a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. at the LETU Softball Field.
