Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, visiting LeTourneau University softball team scored four times en route to a 4-2 win over host Hardin-Simmons University on Friday in Abilene.

The YellowJackets (10-15, 5-12 ASC) were led by the three-hit game from junior
Megan Hill (pictured). Sophomore
Courtney Matulis pitched five innings, allowing nine hits and striking out three in the win to improve to 2-7 and senior
Kaylee Pritchett closed the door in two-hit relief over the final two innings for her first save of the season. The win snaps a five-game winning streak for HSU.

The Cowgirls (17-11, 14-10 ASC) had 11 hits, including three from Braleigh Middleton in the loss. Hardin-Simmons scored a run each in the second and third for a 2-0 lead. Howard Payne stranded a pair of runners in each of the final three innings in the loss – 15 for the game.

LeTourneau started the fourth inning with a single up the middle by Pritchett. Next, junior
Brianna Williams reached on a fielder's choice and freshman
Kelsi Coleman singled to center field to put runners on first and second for
Kelsie Benson. The freshman catcher doubled to left field to score Williams from second and advance Coleman to third to cut the deficit to 2-1. After a LETU strikeout, the YellowJackets plated three runs with two outs. The next run came in on a RBI single by sophomore
Whitney Judd to score Coleman from third. Then, Hill doubled down the left-field line to score Benson and Judd to give LeTourneau its first lead of the weekend with a 4-2 advantage.

Before LeTourneau can return home, they will travel to Pineville, Louisiana to face Louisiana College in a rescheduled series on Tuesday, Apr. 7 at 4 p.m. – doubleheader and Wednesday, Apr. 8 at 3 p.m.
