LETU Softball Ends Season with 8-0 Loss to UT Tyler

Host UT Tyler scored four times each in the 4th and 5th inning to spoil the upset bid by the LeTourneau University softball team on Saturday afternoon in Tyler.

The YellowJackets (19-21), who overcame two elimination games on Friday, reached the semifinals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. LeTourneau was limited to a pair of hits by Alaina Kissinger and UT Tyler. Kissinger pitched a complete game and struck out seven to raise her record to 14-0.
 
The Patriots (38-2) spread eight hits among seven-different players as Mel Hinojosa paced the attack with two hits in the win. Pinch-hitter Kristin Lopez ended a scoreless tie in the fifth with a grand slam for the 4-0 lead. Raven Rodriguez and Hinojosa each scored twice in the win.

LeTourneau got a hit in the first from Megan Hill and another hit by Kelsie Benson in the fourth to account for the two hits. Kaylee Pritchett ended her LETU career with the loss, allowing six hits, five runs (five earned) in the loss to fall to 7-12.
