The LeTourneau University softball team picked up a 7-3 win over Concordia on Sunday afternoon in Austin.
The win secures the YellowJackets its third American Southwest Conference series and improves LETU to 8-12 (5-9 ASC) overall. The Tornados fall to 6-14 (6-9 ASC).
Â
It is the seventh time in eight wins that LETU has had double-digit hits. Six-different players for the YellowJackets had a hit including freshman
Kennedi Dillow (pictured), who had three hits. All the offense gave plenty of support to junior pitcher
Courtney Matulis, who picked up her second win on the weekend. The left hander allowed seven hits, three runs (two earned) and a strikeout to improve to 3-1. Senior
Kayla Cosby pitched a scoreless seventh to close out the contest.
Â
LeTourneau jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning – three of which came in on the inside-the-park, three-run home run by sophomore
Ashlin Roach. Earlier in the inning, senior
Brianna Williams brought in a pair on a two-out, two-RBI double. A RBI single by Dillow in the second extended the lead to 6-0.
Â
An unearned run by the Tornados in the fifth cut the lead to 6-1 before the YellowJackets answered with a run of its own on a sacrifice fly by senior
Megan Hill. The Tornados scored twice on three hits in the sixth but they were unable to draw no closer with Cosby entering the game in the seventh.

The YellowJackets will travel on Tuesday, Mar. 15 at 5 p.m. to face the University of Dallas in a doubleheader in Irving.
