Former NFL quarterback Caleb Hanie spoke to LeTourneau University student-athletes, coaches and staff about leadership in a world of entitlement, how his faith helped him in athletics and goal setting on Monday.
Hanie addressed the student-athletes, coaches and staff as part of the YellowJacket Leadership Academy. Since retiring from professional football, he has been retired focused on starting and growing his own business. Hanie and a former teammate have started a company called Rocksolid, which has designed and produced the first ever soft-shell helmet specifically for football.
Hanie was raised in Forney Texas, where faith, family and football were always at the forefront. He led his high school team to many playoff victories and district championships. Then, he earned a full athletic scholarship to Colorado State University where he also earned his degree in Liberal Arts in four years. Next, Hanie moved into the NFL as an undrafted free agent QB. Hanie went on to signed with the Denver Broncos for his fifth year in the league and served as a back up to Peyton Manning for a season. After spending short stints with the Ravens, Browns and Cowboys, he retired from professional football.
He currently resides in Forney with his wife Andrea and two kids Tatum (girl-6) and Landry (boy-4).
