Women's Tennis Earns 6-3 Victory over Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas- Using their strong doubles play to jump to an early lead, the LeTourneau University women's tennis team was able to maintain their lead through singles action to secure a 6-3 victory over Texas Lutheran University in a Sunday afternoon dual match on March 24th.
 
The win brings the YellowJackets to 5-7 on the season while the Bulldogs drop to 4-4.
 
Securing their fourth straight win at number one doubles were Katharine Waldthausen and Maddison Brackenreg with an 8-6 victory. Also getting a win in the doubles column were Terin Murray and Gracie Favela as they cruised to an 8-2 win at number two doubles. Falling for the YellowJackets at number three doubles were Lauren Rockwell and Mimi Samdi who were defeated by a score of 8-3.
 
Waldthausen earned her seventh win of the season at number one singles as she was challenged to three sets in a 3-6, 6-1 and 6-3 victory at number one singles. Brackenreg managed to have an easier time in her match as she shut out her opponent in a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory at number two singles. In the number three spot. Favela added to the YellowJackets total with a 6-4, 6-3 win while snatching the last tally of the day in favor of LETU would be Rockwell at number five singles in a 7-5, 6-0 win. Murray and Samdi would be the only two to fall in singles action as Murray suffered a 6-3, 6-4 decision while Samdi was outlasted in a tiebreaker match by scores of 7-5, 6-7 and 10-5 tiebreaker.
 
What's Next?
LeTourneau will return to action next weekend as the YellowJackets will begin American Southwest Conference action at home beginning on Friday, March 29th against Belhaven University. The Blazers will enter Friday's 3 p.m. match holding a 2-8 overall record.
