LONGVIEW -- LeTourneau stung early, and rode that buzz into a 3-0 win over Millsaps Saturday on Senior Day.
The YellowJackets women's soccer team put together its second straight shutout of the weekend to improve to 3-2 overall. It marked the first two home games of the season for LeTourneau, which outshot Millsaps, 22-3, in a dominant display.
"We just really wanted to come out hard," senior
Rebekah Stevenson said after scoring a goal on a day she was honored with seven other YellowJackets seniors. "We wanted to start the first eight minutes, first 10 minutes really strong."
That the Jackets did as
Jennifer Martin scored in the sixth minute on an assist from
Brittany Shipp. Martin struck again in the 18th minute when she converted a pass from
Reagan Sandford for a 2-0 LETU lead. It was Martin's fourth and fifth goals of the season.
Stevenson picked up her first goal of the year on an assist from
Cecilia Pichardo in the 29th minute to cap the scoring. The goal came off a set piece on a corner kick from
Kara Gipson.
"It was a great corner by Kara, and then Ceci laid it off to me perfectly," Stevenson said. "I give so much props to them for giving me such a good ball."
LeTourneau outshot Millsaps, 10-0, in the first half. The YellowJackets finished the game with eight shots on goal. The Majors (2-4) had two shots on frame. LeTourneau had eight corner kicks, including seven in the first half. Millsaps finished with two.

Kiersten Reeser stopped two shots in the win. Majors keeper Madison Milano made five saves in the loss.
The YellowJackets won back-to-back games for the first time this year, and the first time since winning three in a row in October last season.
"We're just looking to keep kind of chugging, getting better and getting ready for the conference games," Stevenson said.
The YellowJackets will host Austin College in the final non-conference game Friday at 7 p.m.
