HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – LeTourneau University women's tennis team lost to Lake Forest College, 7-2, Wednesday at the Hilton Head Spring Tennis Fest.
The YellowJackets (1-9) picked up a pair of exciting singles match points, but weren't able to secure a doubles point, and ultimately fell to the strong Foresters (13-3).
LETU dropped all three doubles matches, but had two competitive battles at the top two flights.
Maddison Brackenreg and
Bailey Deatherage lost to Julie Lord and Leeza Bodnar, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles.
Summer Apostalo and
Amber Van Duyn fell to Tebatso Duba and Tyranny Miller, 8-5.
Brackenreg pulled out a 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 win over Lord at No. 1 singles. Deatherage outdueled Bodnar, 3-6, 6-2, 13-11, in a No. 3 singles battle.
But the Jackets fell in straight sets in the other four singles matches as the Foresters prevailed.
Savannah Orton lost in her first collegiate match.
The YellowJackets will meet Berry College at 11 a.m. Thursday to wrap up the trip.
