SPRING, Texas – LeTourneau University women's tennis team lost to the University of St. Thomas, 9-0, Friday.
Bailey Deatherage and
Summer Apostalo fell to Anamaria Gonzalez and Alejandra Lopez, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles.
Sierra Giesen Linssen and
Julia Miller dropped their No. 2 pairs match to Alyssa Davila and Jenny Reynolds, 8-2.
Brandy Weems and
Amber Van Duyn were beaten by Asan Atilla and Karissa Guzman, 8-3, at No. 3.
Gonzalez beat Deatherage, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. Lopez defeated Giesen Linssen, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. Apostalo gave Davila a great battle at the No. 3 position before falling, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. It was the first time this year Apostalo endured a third-set super tiebreaker match.
Reynolds beat Weems, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4. Miller dropped her No. 5 singles match to Atilla, 7-5, 6-2. Anna Ta outlasted
Mimi Samdi, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 6 spot.
LeTourneau fell to 1-6 this season. St. Thomas improved to 3-2.
The YellowJackets will host Howard Payne next Friday at 10 a.m.
