Jared Schurig out pitched Belhaven's Brett Sanchez but neither factored in the decision Friday at Trustman Park.

LETU dropped to 2-6 overall, including 0-4 in American Southwest Conference play, with the 5-4 defeat, while Belhaven improved to 1-3, 1-3.
Schurig (1-0) allowed one run in 6.0 innings of work – his longest outing of the season – scattering six hits, and fanning 10, matching a career high. He left with a 2-1 lead, not issuing a base-on-balls and lowered his WHIP to 1.19.
Sanchez, who garnered d3baseball.com Preseason All-America Third Team honors, surrendered three runs on six hits and a walk, fanning eight in 7.2 innings.
Wood went 3 for 5 at the plate, accounting for three of the YellowJackets eight hits.
Cody Stanley recorded a two-hit game, while
Dane Jones added a double.
Kyle Maysonave and
Devin Greaff registered a base knock each.
LETU struck first when Wood flipped a two-out single over the shortstop's outstretched glove and scoring Stanley from second. In the fourth, Wood raced home when Stanley tripled into the leftfield corner, doubling the advantage.
The Blazers added a solo tally in the sixth, before getting assistance from the YellowJackets and grabbing their first lead of the game with two in the seventh.
Wood led off the eighth with a single to right and later knotted the score on a sacrifice fly by
Weston McKinley.Maysonave lined a one-out single to the left in the top of the final frame before being lifted for a pinch runner.
Anthony Ybarra , who ran for Maysonave crossed the dish with the go-ahead run on a two-out single by Wood.
With one away in the home half of the ninth, a hit-by-pitch and two free passes in succession jump started the rally. After recording the second out at the plate on ground ball to third, Herron stepped in.
The three-game series wraps up with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
