LONGVIEW, Texas – LETU women's tennis fell to a tough Western New Mexico team Friday afternoon, 8-1.
Madison Morris tallied the lone YellowJacket point at the No. 2 singles slot, edging Kajsa Gedlitschka, 6-4, 7-5. Morris has now won three singles matches in a row.
The Mustangs took an early advantage in doubles play, taking all three positions.
Morris and
Megan LeBlanc fought hard at the top flight, falling to Massiel Paredes and Julia Terrazas, 8-4.
Bailey Deatherage and
Brandy Weems dropped a point at line two, losing to Livia Leite and Gedlitschka, 8-2. In the third position,
Emma Boulanger and
Clara Brisman lost to Caini Wang and Nicold Gonzalez, 8-1.
Deatherage and Leite battled at No. 1 singles with Leite taking the victory, 6-2, 6-1. LeBlanc fell to Terrazas at line three, 6-3, 6-3. Wang defeated Weems in the fourth spot, 6-1, 6-3. Boulanger lost to Paredes at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1. Andreea Arnautu beat

The YellowJackets fall right back into American Southwest Conference play with a divisional matchup at UT Dallas Saturday at 2 p.m.
