AUSTIN, Texas – Madelyn Tannery led LETU to a series win over Concordia, tossing a complete game shutout and driving in two at Tornado Softball Field Saturday.

The YellowJackets claimed their second consecutive series, taking the rubber game 8-0 in five innings, improving to 10-16 overall, including 7-11 in American Southwest Conference play. CTX dropped to 11-14, 8-10. 

Tannery allowed two hits and two walks, while striking out two in five innings, earning her first shutout and second complete game of her career.

LETU banged out nine hits, with Kiley Banks registering a pair. Kylie Grisham, Alysa Torres, Callie Poore, Emily Anderson, Kenna Hendry, Macy Clevenger and Tannery tallied one each.

Leading 1-0 after three innings, LETU busted the game open with seven in the top of the fourth. After a pair of fly outs to open the frame, nine YellowJackets reached base. Tannery followed an RBI single by Banks with a base knock of her own, plating a pair and chasing the Tornado's starter, Bailey Tisdale, from the circle.

After the pitching change, Grisham worked a walk and came in behind Tannery on a 2-run double off the bat of Torres. Poore singled to right, scoring Torres and closed out the scoring when Turney reached on an error, two hitters later.

The YellowJackets return home with a three-game series against Belhaven, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022.
