IRVING, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's tennis team won a second straight match as the YellowJackets coasted past Dallas, 9-0, on Saturday at the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving.
LeTourneau moved to 2-0 on the year. Dallas, in its first season of tennis, drops to 0-2.
Dallas had just four players available for the match resulting in three default wins for LeTourneau.Â
Emma Boulanger and
Elizabeth Moreau held down the top-flight in doubles as the tandem defeated Dallas' Claire Jandrain and Ariana Menchaca 8-2.At the No. 2 spot,
Brandy Weems and
Clara Brisman worked for an 8-2 victory over the Crusaders' Sanskriti Baranwal and Gabrielle Nguyen.
LeTourneau left little doubt in singles play.
Weems picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jandrain at the top spot. Boulanger, the reigning ASC East Player of the Week, took her second win of the spring with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Menchaca at the No. 2 spot.Â
Amber Van Duyn and
Abigail Everett finished off the sweep at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Van Duyn was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Baranwal, while Everett rallied past Nguyen in three sets 6-7(4), 6-3, 10-8.
LeTourneau's 2-0 start to the spring is its best since also going 2-0 to open 2018.
UP NEXT
LeTourneau hosts UT Dallas in the home opener next Friday (2 p.m.) before hosting Austin College later in the day (6 p.m.).
