CLARKSVILLE, Ark. --
Carter Amarantos had a grand slam and six RBIs to lead the LeTourneau baseball team to a 13-8 victory in game one of Friday's doubleheader at Ozarks in Clarksville. Ozarks took game two, 16-0.
It was the ASC opener for both LeTourneau (5-4, 1-1 ASC) and Ozarks (2-8, 1-1 ASC) and the series was adjusted to play two games on Friday with the finale set for Saturday (12 p.m.).
GAME ONE: LeTourneau 13, Ozarks 8
Amarantos had six RBIs and LeTourneau used a six-run fifth inning to open up the game before coasting to a 13-8 win in the series opener.
Amarantos went 2-for-3 with a grand slam to go with his six RBIs and two runs scored. He capped a three-run first inning for the YellowJackets with a two-run single that plated
Andrew Klingenstein and
Dane Jones as LeTourneau grabbed a 3-0 lead early. Klingenstein produced an RBI single earlier in the frame.
In the fifth, Amarantos launched his first career home run. He took a 1-0 pitch and blasted it over the high wall in left field to give LeTourneau a 9-2 lead and finish off the six-run inning. Amarantos' six RBIs were one off the program single-game record of seven.
LeTourneau had 13 hits in the contest as
Kyle Maysonave went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.
Cole Thompson and
Ethan Wood also had two hits apiece.
Landon Stocks (2-0) did not allow a hit until the fourth inning as he stretched his no-hit streak to 9.1 innings. Stocks ultimately picked up the win after going 4.2 innings and allowing four runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Dylan Cortes tossed the final 2.1 innings out of the bullpen.
Maysonave added an RBI single in the sixth inning and the YellowJackets tacked on three more runs in the seventh. Thompson and Maysonave had run-scoring hits in the seventh along with a bases-loaded walk from Klingenstein.
Isaac Pelts (0-2) got the loss for Ozarks as he allowed four earned runs in five innings.Â
HIGHLIGHT OF THE GAME
GAME TWO: Ozarks 16, LeTourneau 0
In game two, Ozarks' bats got hot as the hosts scored 15 runs over a three-inning stretch from the third through fifth innings to even the series after a 16-0 win.
Klingenstein had two of LeTourneau's five hits in the loss.Â
Ozarks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but broke open the close game with a five-run third inning and a seven-run fourth inning. Ozarks tallied 16 runs on 19 hits.
Aman Patel (1-2) picked up the loss for LeTourneau.
Hayden Norris threw two scoreless innings in relief.
Jake Estrada (2-0) threw eight innings and struck out nine to get the win for Ozarks.
