LONGVIEW, Texas --
Aman Patel struck out nine over 5.1 innings and the LeTourneau baseball team ended its losing skid with a 6-2 win over Schreiner on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the three-game series.
LeTourneau moves to 8-10 on the year, while Schreiner drops to 11-5.
Patel allowed one earned run on four hits, while striking out a season-high nine batters as he picked up a no-decision. He struck out four straight hitters at one point early in the game.
LeTourneau struck first with a run in the third inning.
Carter Amarantos walked to start the inning and
Dane Jones followed with a single. Amarantos and Jones then pulled off a double steal ahead of
Kyle Maysonave's sacrifice fly to put the YellowJackets up 1-0.Â
Schreiner finally got to Patel in the sixth as Devin Hooper delivered an RBI double to tie the game.
Dylan Cortes came on in relief and got out of the jam to limit the visiting Mountaineers to just one run.
The YellowJackets then took advantage of a Schreiner error in a four-run bottom of the sixth inning.
Ethan Wood drove in
Andrew Klingenstein with a sacrifice fly to give the YellowJackets a 2-1 lead and the Mountaineers looked to be out of the inning later, but a throwing error on a dropped third strike allowed

The bullpen was sharp for LeTourneau as three relievers combined to allow one unearned run on two hits over the final 4.2 innings. Cortes (2-0) got the win after going 1.1 innings and collecting two strikeouts, while
Will Bond and
Cruz Cox had scoreless outings.
