BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The LeTourneau men's tennis team took care of business on the road on Saturday with an 8-1 win over Howard Payne.
The win brings LeTourneau to 4-7 (1-1ASC) on the year.
The YellowJackets started with a doubles seep with
Julian Lee and
Zach Farris holding on for an 8-6 win in the top flight, outlasting Christian Fernandez and Nicolas Gates of Howard Payne.
Andres Urrutia and
Miles Grubbs kept it rolling with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot over Sebastian Seria and Jonathon Villarreal.Â
In the third flight,
John Lewis and
Samson Segovia took on a hard-fought matchup against Micah Hunter and Landon Fevvee as it went to a tiebreak where LeTourneau survived 7-4 to complete the doubles sweep.
Lee earned a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 1 singles flight. Farris nabbed a fairly quick 6-3, 6-2 win to top Fernandez.Â
Urrutia went to three sets with Seria where Urrutia came out with the 4-6, 6-1, 12-10 victory. Grubbs also found himself playing a third one in his 4-6, 7-6(5) win over Ferree in the No. 4 spot.Â
Lewis marked win number eight for the YellowJackets with his 6-2, 6-2 win over Hunter Green in the No. 5 flight. Segovia dropped a close one, 7-5, 7-6(7), to round out the singles flight and complete an 8-1 win on the day for LeTourneau.
