BROWNWOOD, Texas -- Laney Taylor and Lexi Hutchins both homered and the LeTourneau softball team earned an ASC series win at Howard Payne with a 10-1 victory on Saturday afternoon in Brownwood.

LeTourneau (13-7, 5-4 ASC) and Howard Payne (4-11, 1-8 ASC) split the first two games on Friday, but LeTourneau took its second conference series win of the year with the game three victory.

Taylor had two hits, including a three-run homer in the fifth inning, while Hutchins had a two-run homer in the seventh as the YellowJackets broke the game open. LeTourneau totaled eight hits in the win.

The YellowJackets took a 2-0 lead in the first as Kylie Grisham scored on a Howard Payne error and Murphy Williams followed with an RBI single. After LeTourneau added a run in the fourth on a Callie Poore RBI single, the YellowJackets put up five runs in the fifth.

Taylor had the final big hit in the fifth with her three-run shot, her first of the year, that made it 8-1. Mickenzie Murry and Kenna Hendry both had RBIs earlier in the frame.

Williams (6-1) got the win in the circle as she went the distance and allowed just one run while scattering 10 hits. Nine of the 10 Howard Payne hits were singles. She struck out eight and walked two in the victory.

Bree Cason (2-5) was hit with the loss for Howard Payne. The host Yellow Jackets out-hit LeTourneau, 10-8, in the loss.
