MARSHALL, Texas --
Chanel Kemball-Cook scored in the first half, but a pair of second-half goals from East Texas Baptist lifted the No. 4 seeded Tigers over the No. 5 seeded LeTourneau women's soccer team, 2-1, in the ASC Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday in Marshall.
The match was played at Marshall High School due to wet field conditions at ETBU.
ETBU (6-10-1) advances to face No. 1 seed Hardin-Simmons on Thursday in the semifinals.
Kemball-Cook notched her team-leading sixth goal of the year with her strike in the 33rd minute. The sophomore was able to get behind the Tiger back line and finished around ETBU keeper Cadence Tischler for the goal.
The goal was the 17th of Kemball-Cook's career, moving her to 10th on the all-time goals scored list in program history.
That lead stood for nearly 30 minutes of game action.
ETBU found the equalizer in the 62nd minute when Sarah Ramos scored. Ramos' initial attempt hit the post and bounced back to her and she cleaned up the second chance to even the score at 1-1.
In the 88th minute, it was Ramos again as she put away another unassisted goal to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Kemball-Cook and
Gabriella Sanchez each had good looks in the second half, but Tischler made saves on both attempts.
LeTourneau had 12 shots in the match, six from Kemball-Cook with two apiece from Sanchez and
Terra Tucker.
Abi King made three saves in 90 minutes at the net for the YellowJackets.
Tischler made five saves for ETBU.
LeTourneau was making its first appearance in the ASC Tournament since 2019, and the eighth overall since 2005.
