LONGVIEW, Texas --
Dane Jones hit two home runs,
Ben Jones added another solo shot, and
Riley Davis tossed five shutout innings as the LeTourneau baseball team won its second straight game with a 10-3 victory over Vermont State Castleton on Tuesday night at Conrad-Vernon Field.
Dane Jones produced his fifth career multi-homer game with his two home runs to go along with four RBIs. His six home runs on the year are tied for second in Division III.
The two Joneses homered in the same inning. A four-run third inning for LeTourneau (2-7) broke open a close game and the YellowJackets cruised from there.
Dane Jones got the inning going with his solo shot to left field before back-to-back triples from
Hayden Norris and
Xander Nabors made it a 3-0 YellowJacket lead.
Nabors later scored on a throwing error before
Ben Jones launched his third homer of the season, a solo shot to left field, to cap the inning and make it a 5-0 LeTourneau lead.
Dane Jones' second home run of the game came in the sixth inning, a two-run shot way out to left field that made it a 7-0 lead.
Davis (1-1) had his best start as a YellowJacket as he tossed five scoreless innings. The left-hander allowed just two hits and struck out four as he threw 78 pitches to get his first win of the season.Â
Camden Miller and
TJ Spitdowski each tossed a shutout inning in relief as LeTourneau used four arms out of the bullpen.
The YellowJackets added three more runs in the seventh inning.
Dane Jones worked a bases-loaded walk and then a wild pitch and a Castleton error brought home two more runs.
Norris finished 4-for-5 as LeTourneau had 12 hits in the win. Nabors went 2-for-5 to join
Dane Jones with two hits in the game.
Aubrey Ramey (0-1) got the loss on the mound for Castleton (0-5). Mikey Raby and Kannon Dush each had two hits for the visiting Spartans.
