ALPINE, Texas -- The offense was in full stride again for the LeTourneau baseball team as they took down Sul Ross 12-6 on the road on Saturday.
Dane Jones and Hayden Norris both hit home runs as LeTourneau (5-7) cruised to victory.
Norris's blast was the first score of the game coming in the third inning.
Carlos Flores Jr. tacked on an RBI in the third inning when his base hit brought home Blake Vice from second to make it 2-0.
While on the other side, Ryan Brewer had faced only two more than the minimum through four innings with three hits allowed and a ground ball turned into a double play in the bottom of the third.
In the top of the sixth inning, the YellowJackets added to the lead scoring five runs off of three hits.
Tyler Hedin and Ethan Wood both tallied singles, while Dane Jones hit a 2 RBI double scoring Wood and Flores Jr.Â
Sul Ross would score a run in the seventh as Hernandez homered to right center field to make it 7-2, LeTourneau ahead.
The YellowJackets would score five runs in the ninth to secure the win.Â
Dane Jones and Norris both had three hits, Jones had five RBIs and Norris had one. Norris also drew two walks.
Brewer started on the mound for LeTourneau and got the win as he went 4.1 innings. He allowed just three hits and one run and got one strikeout.
TJ Spitdowski (1-0) was in at relief as he went 2.2 innings allowing two hits, one earned run, and marked a strikeout to collect the win.
Dawson Beard (0-4) got the loss in his 5.1 innings he allowed seven hits, five earned runs, four walks, and struck out two batters.
UP NEXT
LeTourneau will travel to Southwestern with a doubleheader slated for Friday (4 p.m.).
