Senior Day Win: Men's Tennis Takes Down St. Thomas

LONGVIEW, Texas -- After celebrating the senior class, the LeTourneau men's tennis team claimed a 5-4 victory over visiting St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon at the Davis Tennis Courts.

LeTourneau (5-10) honored seniors John Lewis and Alex Barrero, along with three women's seniors, before the match for their hard work and dedication to the program over the last four years.

Fittingly, it was a senior who clinched the win for the YellowJackets. With the YellowJackets up 4-3 late in the match, Lewis came through with a match-clinching 6-4, 6-4 win over Hunter Kemball-Cook to give the match to the hosts.

The win was Lewis' fifth of the season in singles play.

LeTourneau took a 2-1 match lead in doubles play. Zach Farris and Chase Rogers earned another win at the top spot with an 8-4 victory over Jamie O'Shea and Pooya Tork.

The duo has won eight straight matches and moved to 14-3 overall on the year.

Lewis and Timothy Black made it 2-1 with their 8-3 victory at No. 3 over Kemball-Cook and Jeremiah Hoover.

Farris notched a 6-1, 6-0 win over Zhanlue Kuang at the top spot in singles for the third point of the match for the YellowJackets.

Black also notched his second win of the day as he made it 4-3 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ruben Reyes at No. 5.

All of that set the stage for Lewis to capture the match and give LeTourneau its second home win of the season.
