LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's tennis team honored its senior class in the best way on Saturday: with a victory.
LeTourneau rallied from a doubles deficit and won all six singles matches to ease past visiting St. Thomas, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Davis Tennis Courts.
LeTourneau (9-8) honored seniors
Clara Brisman Taylor,
Megan LeBlanc, and
Brandy Weems -- along with two men's seniors -- in a ceremony before the match for their hard work and dedication to the program during their careers.
The YellowJackets got off to a rocky start against St. Thomas (4-4), gaining just one point in doubles with Weems and
Isa Casso combining for an 8-3 win over Jenny Reynolds and Karissa Guzman at the No. 2 spot.
The deficit did not last long, though.
Casso picked up her second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Guzman at the No. 3 spot to even the match. LeBlanc then gave LeTourneau the lead as she ousted Anamaria Gonzalez by a 6-1, 6-4 final at the top spot.
Elizabeth Moreau won by retirement over Reynolds after holding a 3-2 lead in the first set.
Grace Rogers then clinched the win for the YellowJackets with her three-set win over Lucia Rodriguez at No. 2 6-4, 6-7(6), 10-6.
Anatole Hurta and
Olivia Clark capped the win with their victories at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Hurta also went three sets before downing Nataly Velasco 6-7(4), 7-6(5), 10-5. Clark eased past Aimee Tran by a 6-2, 6-2 final.
