Softball Finishes the ASC Tournament 3rd in 5-4 Loss to Concordia

MARSHALL, Texas -- The No. 5 seeded LeTourneau softball team finished the season in third at the ASC Championship Tournament after a 5-4 loss to No. 6 seeded Concordia on Saturday afternoon at Jason Bell Park.

LeTourneau broke open the scoring in the bottom of the third after Maddie Flanery stole her 52nd bag of the year and Jenna Carter brought her around third and home with an RBI single that dropped in center field.

Kylie Girisham followed suit with a base hit that allowed Maddie Smith to walk and load the bases.

Carter and Grisham both scored on back-to-back wild pitches prompting a pitching change as Kylie Kirk, who started in the circle for Concordia, had a final line of 2.2 innings pitched, allowing three hits, four runs, with three of them earned.

LeTourneau took a 4-0 lead into the top of the fourth inning.

The Tornados led off with a double from Kirk and put up five runs off of two hits and four errors to take a 5-4 lead at the midpoint of the game.

LeTourneau strung together a couple of hits in the bottom of the sixth inning but could not get anyone past second base leaving the YellowJackets behind by one before the final frame.

After three quick outs for the LeTourneau defense, the YellowJacket bats went back to work to try and break the deficit. Carter represented the tying run with a walk and a stolen base, but the rally hopes were snuffed out quickly with after Grisham gave the ball a run out to center field for a flyout.

Hailee Leger started in the circle for the YellowJackets and went 7.0 innings, allowed five runs, two earned, three hits, and notched four strikeouts.

Mayson Post pitched 4.1 innings in relief for the Tornados and allowed two hits, marking four strikeouts.

Maddi Smith led the game with two hits going 2-for-2 with a walk.
