CLARKSVILLE, Ark. -- Five different LeTourneau softball players recorded multi-hit games and
Lexi Hutchins tossed a shutout as the YellowJackets completed a three-game sweep of Ozarks with a 12-0 victory on Saturday.
LeTourneau (21-17, 14-10 ASC) ensures its second straight winning season. The YellowJackets also clinched a second consecutive 20-win season for the first time in program history.
Payton Bauer had three hits while
Maddie Flanery,
Kylie Grisham,
Jenna Carter, and
Mickenzie Murry all had two hits apiece. Flanery, Grisham, Carter, and
Jaci Taylor all had two RBIs. LeTourneau totaled 14 hits in the victory.
The YellowJackets jumped all over Ozarks (7-33, 2-22 ASC) with four runs in the first inning to get ahead and earn the third ASC series sweep of the season.
Grisham and Carter each had RBI infield singles in the first inning. Carter and
Maddi Smith pulled off a double steal, with Smith taking home, before Carter swiped third and scored on an error to make it 4-0.
In the third, Carter launched a solo home run to center field to make it 5-0. The homer was Carter's second of the season.Â
Taylor added an RBI single and Flanery had a sacrifice fly in the third to add two more runs for a 7-0 lead. An RBI single from Bauer in the fifth highlighted a four-run frame as the YellowJackets opened up a 12-0 advantage.
That was more than enough for Hutchins in the circle. Hutchins (3-5) allowed just two hits and struck out one in five shutout innings for the win. The right-hander needed just 54 pitches to finish off the win.
LeTourneau pitchers did not walk a batter in the entire three-game series and have gone four straight games without issuing a base on balls.
Allyson Fultz (1-11) got the loss after going 2.2 innings.Â
