HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Carroll proved too much for men's tennis as they fell, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon in Hilton Head.
The YellowJackets found themselves down 1-0 early after falling in doubles. Adrian Gomez and Daniel Ezcurra upended No. 1 tandem
Zach Farris and
Fernando Vazquez, 6-4, and while No. 2 pairing
Andrew Reiman and
Diego Maldonado fought valiantly, they fell just short in a 7-6 (5) loss.
In the singles matches, Farris fell to Gomez, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 1 slot, and Reiman could not overcome Ezcurra, losing 6-2, 6-4.
Vazquez nearly pulled off a comeback win in his match against Andrew LaBelle, but fell in a tiebreak (6-4, 1-6, 10-8), and
Liam Wedge lost to Jack McCaffery, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Maldonado would gain the sole point for LeTourneau in the No. 5 slot, taking down Ryan LaBelle by a score of 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-3, showing his resilience with a pair of tiebreak wins.
