BELTON, Texas -- The LeTourneau baseball team stayed hot at the plate and secured a series win over Mary Hardin-Baylor with a 12-7 victory on Sunday afternoon at Red Murff Field.
LeTourneau (11-12, 3-1 ASC) has won six consecutive series over Mary Hardin-Baylor (13-8, 1-3 ASC) dating back to 2020. After dropping Friday's series opener, LeTourneau took the final three games of the ASC series. The YellowJackets have won five of the last six games.
The YellowJackets scored double-digit runs for the second time in the series and the eighth time this season.
Isaac Price went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, while
Austin Wiederhold,
Dane Jones, and
Luke Land all had two hits each. LeTourneau totaled 12 hits.
Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, the YellowJackets got those runs right back in the top of the second. Price singled to left field and a Crusader error allowed both Land and
Jack Kale to score.
Blake Vice followed with an RBI single to give the YellowJackets a 3-2 lead.
Price was in the middle of the action again in the third as his RBI single plated Kale to make it a 4-2 game.
LeTourneau held a one-run lead (4-3) before blowing open the margin over the final two innings. The YellowJackets scored four runs in both the eighth and ninth innings to pull away.Â
Price had a two-run homer in the eighth while Jones collected an RBI single. In the ninth, Wiederhold had the big hit as his two-run double made it an 11-4 LeTourneau lead.
Will Podsednik and
Clayton Holt combined for 6.2 innings out of the bullpen and limited Mary Hardin-Baylor to two runs on three hits. Holt struck out six in his three innings of work.
Erick Roberts picked up the loss for the Crusaders as he went three innings and allowed four runs.Â
