LONGVIEW, Texas -- LeTourneau softball student-athletes
Kylie Grisham,
Laney Taylor,
Leighton Landreth,
Maddie Flanery, and
Jaci Taylor were all named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® team, announced the organization on Tuesday.
CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Grisham, a senior from Huntsville, Texas, garners the award for a third straight year. An All-ASC second team honoree this season, Grisham hit .279 with four home runs, 30 RBIs, and 31 runs scored on the year as she played and started in all 45 games. She was tied for second on the team with 12 multi-hit games and totaled eight multi-RBI games. In ASC contests, Grisham batted .308 with three homers and nine RBIs. She threw out 15 would-be base stealers on the year.
Majoring in business and aviation management, Grisham is a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference selection to go with her three CSC Academic honors.
Taylor, a senior from Sibley, La., earns her first career CSC Academic All-District nod. The senior threw a team-high 113.2 innings and collected eight wins with a 4.50 ERA as she earned All-ASC third team. Taylor had 51 strikeouts to go with 11 complete games and one shutout. She was exceptional in the ASC Tournament, allowing just three earned runs across 15.1 innings pitched in three games to lead LeTourneau to the title game. Taylor earned ASC All-Tournament honors for her effort. The right-hander also collected ASC Pitcher of the Week honors on April 28 after tossing a complete-game in a win over UT Dallas.
Majoring in interdisciplinary studies, Taylor is a three-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree.
Landreth, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, collects her second straight CSC Academic All-District accolade. In her All-ASC second team season, she batted a career-best .382 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs to go with 31 runs scored and 12 doubles. Landreth's nine homers is tied for third-most in a single-season in program history. In ASC games, she was even better as Landreth hit .422 with five homers and 16 RBIs. Landreth led the team with 13 multi-hit games and tied for the top spot with 12 multi-RBI games. She was named to the ASC All-Tournament team after hitting two homers -- including a grand slam -- with eight RBIs to help LeTourneau reach the title game.
Majoring in business management, Landreth earned ASC Academic All-Conference honors last season.
A junior from Tyler, Texas, Flanery gets her second career CSC Academic All-District selection. An All-ASC second team honoree, the junior was a two-time ASC Hitter of the Week during the season and batted .328 with one homer, 20 RBIs, a team-best 36 runs scored, and also led the team with 28 stolen bases. Flanery hit .349 in conference play, including her first career home run in a win at Howard Payne. The junior eclipsed 100 career stolen bases on the year and was second in the ASC with her 28. Flanery was second on the team with 12 multi-hit games.
Majoring in kinesiology, Flanery is a two-time ASC Academic All-Conference honoree.
Taylor, a sophomore from Henderson, Texas, garners her first CSC Academic All-District honor. She collected All-ASC second team this season after she hit a career-best .338 with three home runs with a team-high 41 RBIs to go with 24 runs scored. Taylor tallied 12 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI games, including a program-record-tying six in a win at Howard Payne. In a four-game series at Howard Payne, Taylor totaled 15 RBIs. Her 12-game hitting streak during the year was the longest for a YellowJacket this season. Against ASC foes, Taylor batted .420 with two home runs and 20 RBIs to go with a 1.093 OPS.
Majoring in business management, Taylor was an ASC Academic All-Conference honoree last season.
