Women's Soccer Downs Centenary, Secures Spot in SCAC Tournament

LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team took care of business against the Centenary Ladies on Sunday afternoon, winning 3-2 at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.

The victory pushes LeTourneau to 10-3-1 on the year, marking just the third 10-win season in program history.

More importantly, however, the Jackets move to 4-2-1 in conference play, capturing their 13th point and clinching a spot in the SCAC Championship Tournament.

Chanel Kemball-Cook scored her league-leading 15th goal (12') of the season to put LeTourneau ahead early.

Lana Whiteman pitched the ball upfield, allowing for a one-touch pass from Sarah Wyatt to lead Kemball-Cook into open space, taking two touches before rocketing the ball just inside the right post.

Kemball-Cook's 15th score is the third most in a single season in program history.

Wyatt took things into her own hands just two minutes later, receiving a through ball from Kemball-Cook to set up an easy one-on-one and a score.

Centenary (2-10-1, 0-5-1 SCAC) did not go down easily, however, as Giselle Gonzalez made good on a defensive misplay by the Jackets, trimming the lead to one in the 27th minute.

In the second half, Sarah Crenshaw stepped up for the Ladies in the 68th minute, receiving an assist from Kaitlin Sprey on a free kick to tie the match at 2-2.

However, the heroics came from Natalia Vallin in the 75th minute.

The freshman fired in a loose ball in the box for her first career goal and the game-winner.

Wyatt is tied for third in the league with her fifth assist, while Whiteman earned her second of the year.
