LONGVIEW, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw via a last-minute goal against Austin College at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
Reagan Parks played hero on Friday night, scoring the equalizer in the 87th minute against the Kangaroos (3-4-6, 2-1-5 SCAC) with an unsavable dart to the top-left corner.
The draw moved LeTourneau to 10-3-2 on the season, with a 4-2-2 record in SCAC play. With their 14th point, the YellowJackets have secured the No. 3 seed in next week's SCAC Tournament in Round Rock, Texas.
Both squads came out firing in the first half, putting a combined dozen shots on frame with little downtime in between.
Knotted at 0-0 heading into the second half, it was Austin's Bailey McCreary who broke the match open. McCreary -- the Roos center back that caused a ton of problems on the defensive end -- came up to head in a corner in the 57th minute.
With time slipping away, and every run attempt being stifled by Austin, it seemed that LeTourneau was going to be spoiled in the regular season finale.
However, the Jackets got the one run they needed.
Malaika Barlow booted forward a clearance that wound up at the feet of
Chanel Kemball-Cook. Kemball-Cook traveled into the offensive third where she found Parks on a cross to the right side of the box.
Parks took one touch before bending the ball into the top left corner, more than enough to tie the match and secure the draw.
Both goalies had a busy night between the pipes.
Kinsey Fulks collected six saves, while Austin's Meela Stubbs grabbed 10 shots.Â
