ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The LeTourneau women's soccer team captured a 3-1 victory over the Ozarks Eagles in the SCAC Championship Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
The win advances the No. 3-seeded YellowJackets to Friday's semifinal against No. 2 seed St. Thomas at 2:30 p.m., with a trip to the SCAC Championship match on the line.
LeTourneau's victory not only marked the first postseason win in program history, but also moved its record to 11-3-2, tying the record for most wins in a single season.
It took little time after the opening kick for the Jackets to strike.
Sarah Wyatt scored in just the fifth minute to put LeTourneau ahead 1-0.
Wyatt was named an All-SCAC honorable mention prior to the contest, and played the best match of her career on the biggest stage.
The junior wrangled a loose ball at the midfield line and used her electric speed to race past the entire defense before bending the ball inside the right post from the top of the box.
Ozarks' (6-7-4) Angelina Lotz scored from the fall out of a free kick in the 17th minute to tie the contest at 1-1.
LeTourneau help possession for the majority of the match, and evident through its six shots on goal through the remainder of the first half.
The second half saw seven shots across the opening 20 minutes, and with the score knotted at 1-1, everyone started to move to the edge of their seats.
That's exactly when All-SCAC first team selection
Chanel Kemball-Cook proved she deserved every bit of that honor.
Wyatt fed Kemball-Cook at the top of the box, and the senior needs one kick step before blasting the ball past the Eagles' Bridgette Truesdale.
The score pushed the YellowJackets to a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute, and inked Kemball-Cook her program record sixth game-winning goal of the season.
The assist was Wyatt's sixth of the season, tied for the third most in program history.
Needing to just hold possession through the final third of the match,
Sierra Kemball-Cook tacked on one for good measure in the 85th, navigating through the midfield before soaring the ball to the top shelf to ice the match at 3-1.
Kinsey Fulks earned seven saves in the contest, while the Jackets kept Truesdale busy, saving 10 shots.
