During the Christmas break of the 2017-18 athletics season, Solheim Arena underwent a facelift with the installation of new seating. A total of 429 metro chairback seats were installed on one side of the arena behind the team benches and scorer's table, while the opposite side of the arena was equipped with 551 bleacher seats. The first game to take place inside Solheim Arena with the new seating was Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 as the YellowJackets men's and women's basketball teams hosted The University of Texas-Dallas in American Southwest Conference action.
