Matt Perisho joined LETU as an assistant coach and pitching coach February 1, 2022.

Prior to joining the LETU staff, Perisho experienced great success in 10 seasons at the high school level, including six as head coach. He collected six Coach of the Year awards during his time at Casteel High School in Chandler, Ariz. (2011-19) and one in 2021, after his only season at Mount Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

His teams registered a .772 winning percentage, qualifying for the playoffs each year and winning five regional championships. Perisho continued to develop and fine tune his coaching style with his experience in the competitive club baseball scenes of Arizona and California.

Selected in the third round by the California Angels (now the Los Angeles Angels) in the 1993 MLB Amateur Draft. The Tempe, Ariz., native spent the next 18 years in professional baseball, including parts of eight seasons in Major League Baseball.

Perisho pitched for the Anaheim Angels (1997) the Texas Rangers (1998-2000), Detroit Tigers (2001 and 2002), the Florida Marlins (2004 and 2005) and the Boston Red Sox (2005). He played internationally for four years, making stops in the Mexican League, the Venezuelan Winter League, the Chinese Professional Baseball League and the Dominican Winter League.

During his senior year of high school, Perisho signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to play collegiately at the University of Miami, declining the offer after being drafted by the Angels.

He is married to his wife Annie and they have one son, KC.
