In 1992 and 1993 he was a White House Fellow, working in the Federal Communications Commission under President Bush and the Department of the Interior under President Clinton. He is the author of the business best seller "Talking with Your Customers", which as been in publication since 1993. In addition, he is a practicing attorney.

Coach Wing's background in baseball is just as impressive. Coach Wing has experienced playing and coaching baseball at the highest levels, having played Division I baseball at Arizona University and Colorado University as well as coaching the USA National Baseball Team. Mike Wing carries on the legacy of his father, Jim Wing, who recently retired after being Co-Head Coach at the University of Arizona with Jerry Kindall. Through his involvement with U.S. National baseball and his father, Wing hopes those ties will help him bring prospective players to the LeTourneau fold. "Mike personifies what I think LeTourneau University is all about. He is a man of deep faith, he is a man of vision, and he is a man committed to excellence," said LeTourneau University Director of Athletics, Bernie Balikian.

Although Wing has not coached in recent years, Wing comments, "I feel like I have never left coaching, albeit the 'field' may have been a little different over the last few years. However, I have never been away from the game as I have helped at various national and international levels in the interim. I am excited about coaching at LeTourneau and the potential that the program has going forward. I think highly of the university's reputation and pursuit of excellence. I would like to help it pursue excellence on the baseball field. My approach is that there is very good baseball played at all levels including Division III. My thought is that the foundation is here for LeTourneau University to move into the upper ranks."

Wing added that his business background will be a plus. "I enjoy building teams and maximizing organizational performance. I am from the school of hustle. I believe it is a privilege to play the game and not a right. Therefore, we will work extremely hard on fundamentals and put together a well-balanced team that will work hard to be very competitive."

Wing is married to the former Pam Constantz and they have three children, Lindsay, Jacque, a senior in high school, and Brody, an eight-grader. Wing's daughter Lindsay is an All-American gymnast at Stanford University.
