Brittany Best spent the 2015 and 2016 season as an assistant coach at LeTourneau University women’s soccer after a standout career at fellow ASC member, University of Texas at Dallas.
Last fall, in 2016, the LETU women's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference Tournament for the third time in program history. It was the first appearance by LeTourneau since back to back appearances in 2005 and in 2006. For their efforts, six players were named All-American Southwest Conference (ASC) to match the most in program history. Best, who was responsible for helping organize the LETU defense, had standouts that were defenders for the YellowJackets, who recorded six shutouts.
In 2015, Best along with head coach John Antonisse, they guided LETU to its most wins since 2009. Seven players were named to the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team. For the second-straight year, Stephanie Vana was named third team all-region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and first team all-American Southwest Conference. Vana was also a repeat first team all-American Southwest Conference honoree en route to being named the LETU Female Athlete of the Year. Freshman Carrye Funk was named the ASC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and Third Team all-American Southwest Conference.
She gained valuable experience for the last year as the goalkeeper trainer with the Texas Thunder Soccer Club in Plano. Best was a four-year letterwinner at UT Dallas for head coach John Antonisse, where she was a two-time Academic All-ASC selection and played in 57 games for the Comets. Twice, she earned all-ASC honors – first team in 2011 and second team in 2013. Best recorded 19 shutouts over the course of her career and earned ASC Defensive Player of the Week recognition three times in her career.
At Kountze High School, she was a multi-sport letterwinner earning recognition in basketball (3), cross country (4), tennis (1) and track and field (3). In addition, she served as the president of the National Honor Society, Senior Class Vice President of student council and the Business Editor of the yearbook.
Best graduated from UTD with her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in health care studies. She earned her master’s degree at LeTourneau in health care administration.
