Suzanne Merritt enters her 15th year as head coach of the LeTourneau men's and women's tennis programs in 2026-27. It will be her 16th year overall at LeTourneau.
Merritt also serves the department as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. She was elevated to the SWA role in 2017.

AT LETOURNEAU
Merritt began at LeTourneau as an assistant coach in 2012. In 2013, she took over the reigns of both programs and is the longest-tenured coach currently at LeTourneau.
Her teams have combined for 197 wins in 14 seasons and 22 conference tournament appearances. Merritt has coached 107 all-conference selections, including nine conference major award winners.
Her 2019 men's team captured the ASC East Division regular season crown as LeTourneau went 4-0 in conference play and earned the right to host the ASC Tournament. Merritt earned ASC East Division Coach of the Year.
As new members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2026, Merritt led both programs to the conference tournament. The women got off to the best start in program history and finished with nine wins, including a program-record six in conference play. The women had a pair of All-SCAC honorees in singles play and the top doubles team earned All-SCAC. The men won eight matches and tallied four All-SCAC honors, two in singles and two in doubles.
BEYOND LETOURNEAU
In addition to her duties as head coach and assistant director of athletics, Merritt also served on the NCAA National Women's Tennis Committee, rotating off the committee following the 2024 NCAA Championships.
PERSONAL
Originally from Albuquerque, N.M., Merritt graduated from Baylor University. She and her husband, Ed, have two children, Jacob and Jessica, and two grandchildren.
