Whitney Grubb enters her first year as an assistant track and field coach in 2025-26.
A decorated athlete, Grubb comes to LeTourneau following a two-year stint as an assistant coach at UT Tyler.
"The LeTourneau track and field program is thrilled to bring Whitney and her wealth of experience to our coaching staff," said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Dillon May. "Whitney's resume speaks for itself. She is one of the most talented throwers in NCAA Division III history and had a great career as a professional athlete in the sport. Being from the area, Whitney has a long relationship with LeTourneau University and was a standout athlete at White Oak High School. Her heart for the Lord is apparent in her approach to coaching and competition. I'm excited to see the impact she has on our team and how she helps us build on the success we experienced last year."
"The opportunity to work with the track and field programs here at LeTourneau was not something I planned for, but am beyond grateful for the path that brought me here," said Grubb. "It was just one of those times when God puts something right in front of your face in more ways than one in order to get your attention, and I knew I needed to listen. Throughout the interview process I became more and more excited for what was to come and felt an overwhelming amount of peace that if this was where God wanted me, the path would be easy."
Grubb brings a wealth of experience to the LeTourneau programs.
She was a three-time NCAA Division III national champion at UT Tyler during her collegiate career and a seven-time All-American in the hammer and weight throw events.
Grubb won two national titles in the hammer throw. Her 2017 title came with a national record distance of 64.03 meters (210'1) and capped back-to-back national championships in the event. In 2017, Grubb claimed the weight throw national title with her mark of 19.62 meters (64'4.5).
One of the most accomplished athletes in American Southwest Conference history, Grubb was a four-time conference champion in hammer -- including holding the conference hammer throw record -- and was a two-time champion in discus. Grubb was named the ASC Female Athlete of the Year following her senior season. Additionally, she was a three-time USTFCCCA West Region Field Athlete of the Year honoree.
In 2024, Grubb was inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hallf of Fame.
After her collegiate career, Grubb pursued a berth in the Olympics. She competed at multiple national meets and had a career-best distance of 67.82 meters in the hammer throw at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.
At LeTourneau, Grubb becomes part of May's staff that looks to build the program into a conference, regional, and national contender.
"I'm so excited to get to work on helping to building the program through recruiting and working with the throwers," added Grubb. "As a former collegiate and post-collegiate thrower, and a former Division III athlete, I feel like I'm home again. I can't wait to see how the 2025-26 season goes."
Grubb graduated from UT Tyler with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 2017.
