Leslie Reinecker enters her third season as the head women’s basketball coach.
In 2015-16, in her second season, Reinecker and the YellowJackets reached the American Southwest Conference Tournament for the third time in program history. In addition, they became the first LeTourneau basketball team in school history to win a post-season game with an 86-78 win in the quarterfinals over Hardin-Simmons to reach the semifinals.
The YellowJackets were led by junior Crystal Jones, who went on to earn numerous honors, including third team D3Hoops.com All-Region, ASC Newcomer of the Year, first team all-ASC, first team all-ASC East Division, the ASC All-Defensive Team and the ASC All-Tournament Team. Jones was joined on the all-ASC team by LaTanya Drakes and Ashley Stephens, who were each selected second team all-ASC East Division. Stephens was also named the ASC East Division Defensive Player of the Year. Seven student-athletes were named to the ASC All-Academic Team.
In her first season, the YellowJackets were led by Rebecca Stewart and Ashley Reed, who ranked in the top 20 in the ASC in scoring and steals. Plus, she had five student-athletes named to the ASC All-Academic Team.
In addition to her coaching duties, Reinecker serves as the Director of Camps for the athletic department. She serves as the primary liaison to the LeTourneau University Conference and Event Services Department for the summer camps hosted by LeTourneau athletics.
Prior to accepting the position at LeTourneau, Reinecker served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I member, Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas. With the Bearkats, she was responsible for the development of team fundamental skills and guard play. Reinecker was also involved in the scouting of opponents and the oversight of the academic progress of the student-athletes. Reinecker also assisted with the on-court coaching in practice and games as well as the evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, both on and off the court. The Bearkats won the Southland Conference in 2013 en route to the program’s second-consecutive post-season appearance and four-consecutive Southland Conference Tournament appearances.
Reinecker spent two years as the head girls’ basketball coach at Prosper High School and three years at East Bernard High School; in addition to serving as an assistant coach at Allegheny College for two years.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with cum laude honors from Southwestern University in Georgetown, where she played under current Concordia University Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics, Ronda Seagraves. Reinecker went on to earn her master's degree in instructional technology at Sam Houston State in 2010.
