Scott Peluso is set to begin his sixth season as the head volleyball coach at LeTourneau University.
Over the course of the last five seasons, Peluso has increased the win total for the YellowJackets and recruited student-athletes who have worked their way into the LETU Record Book including all-time leaders: Kayla Ronda (2012-15) in attack attempts, Alli Bordelon (2012-15) in digs and others in the top ten in multiple categories.
In addition to on-the-court success, the LeTourneau volleyball team has increased its home attendance, been active in various community engagement activities and excelled in the classroom. For the last two years, LeTourneau has had seven players named to the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team and in 2016, the YellowJackets were just one of four ASC schools to earn the AVCA All-Academic Team Award for a team cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.
In 2015, senior Alli Bordelon and sophomore A.J. Campbell picked up post-season honors from the ASC. Bordelon was named second team all-ASC East Division honors and Campbell was named the conference's East Division Newcomer of the Year. The YellowJackets hosted one of the largest crowds in program history for its match against UT Dallas.
In 2014, the YellowJackets junior Kayla Ronda and sophomore Dolores Kroese led the team en route to third team and honorable mention All-American Southwest Conference honors, respectively. Plus, they hosted two of the top crowds in school history. Ronda was also named the ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year (the second year in a row a LETU Volleyball player received the award) and to the conference’s Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team.
In addition to his duties with the volleyball program, Peluso also serves as the Director of the Solheim Center. He and his wife have started and are the directors of 412 Elite, a local volleyball club in Longview.
Prior to coming to LeTourneau, Peluso served as an assistant coach at the University of Denver, Colorado Christian University and Colorado School of Mines. At Denver, he helped the Pioneers reach the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. In two seasons at Colorado Christian, he served as the program’s top assistant and ended his tenure as the interim head coach. In those roles, he served as the program’s recruiting coordinator and handled the oversight of the setters, offensive system, conditioning, team travel, camps, community engagement, scheduling and academic standards. At Colorado School of Mines, Peluso was responsible for recruiting several all-conference players and helping lead the Orediggers to the best record in school history and their first ever NCAA Division II Tournament appearance.
A Denver, Colo., native, Peluso earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Point Loma Nazarene, where he played on their men’s club team, and his master’s degree in sports psychology from Capella University. He resides in Longview with his wife, Joanna and his daughter, Sarah.
