RICHARDSON, Texas – Jo Runnels recorded a season-high 20 kills as LeTourneau pushed Concordia Texas to five sets, but the YellowJackets dropped a close one to the Tornados, 3-2 (23-25, 25-9, 18-25, 25-15, 15-8) Saturday morning at the ASC Dig Pink Crossover Challenge II.
"I was proud of my team today in our match vs. Concordia, but we are still up and down," LeTourneau head volleyball coach Scott Peluso said. "In the first and third sets we were executing very well and playing some great defense, but seemed to let down in the other three sets. Jo Runnels found her rhythm and finished the match with 20 kills. Consistency is where our focus needs to be to get us to the next level, but we are getting closer".
Sarah Krippner had a career-high 34 assists and recorded 13 digs for a double-double to lead LeTourneau, while Kayla Ronda had eight kills and 10 digs for the YellowJackets. Alli Bordelon recorded 19 digs, Kayla Bonina had 10 digs, Alexia Thomas had eight kills, and Kelsie Doran added seven assists for LETU.
Concordia Texas was led by Bianca Martinez with 40 assists, while Amanda Affolter, Stacy Manship, and Shelbi Chipman each recorded 15 kills for the Tornados.
LeTourneau will wrap up play at the ASC Dig Pink Crossover Saturday at 3 p.m. CT against Hardin-Simmons.
