Box Score 2 TYLER, Texas – LeTourneau volleyball recorded its third win of the season Saturday as the YellowJackets finished with a 2-2 record at the UT Tyler Volleyball Invitational. LETU dropped its first match of the day to Hendrix College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-20), before defeating Texas College, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-19).
"It was a decent weekend for our team," LeTourneau head volleyball coach Scott Peluso said. "Not only did we come away with two nice wins, we faced some adversity that is only going to make us stronger. We could have folded under the pressure. Instead, we attacked it head on and showed some good fight. We still have some growth to do as we head into ASC conference play this week, but I am pleased with our progress to this point."
In the match against Hendrix, Kayla Ronda led LeTourneau (3-5) in kills with 11 while also recording four block assists and four digs. Sarah Krippner and Kelsie Doran had 11 assists apiece to lead the YellowJackets. Alli Bordelon led LETU in digs with nine, while Krippner added eight.
Against Texas College, Krippner led LeTourneau with a double-double, recording a career-best and LETU season-high 31 assists along with 11 digs. Ronda had 13 kills and eight digs, Ellie Barber had 12 kills, and Bordelon had nine digs for the YellowJackets.
LETU will begin American Southwest Conference play Tuesday at 7 p.m., on the road against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
