Box Score University of Texas-Dallas volleyball team posted a 25-15, 25-18, 25-9 win over the LeTourneau University volleyball team on Friday in Tyler as part of the ASC Inter-pod Tournament hosted by UT Tyler.

The Comets (18-6, 10-1 ASC) were led by the tandem of Meredith Crawford and Abbie Barth, who had 15 and 12 kills, respectively. UTD outhit the YellowJackets by a .366 to .115 margin in the win.

LeTourneau (6-17, 1-9 ASC) was led by freshman Dolores Kroese, who hit .364 and had 10 kills. The rookie from Twin Falls, Idaho had five of her 10 kills in the second set to lead the YellowJackets. Sophomore Alexia Thomas added eight kills and sophomore Sarah Krippner had 20 assists in the loss.

Despite three kills and two service aces by Kroese for the YellowJackets but an 11-3 run and five kills by Barth led UTD to the first set victory. In the opening set, UTD hit at a .265 clip compared to .029 for LETU.

The second set saw the Comets jump out to a 7-2 lead but a resilient LeTourneau squad closed the gap at 9-7 when Kroese delivered a kill. UTD answered the YellowJacket spurt and built a 17-10 lead en route to a 25-18 victory.

In the third set, Crawford and Barth combined for 11 of the 20 kills for the Comets, who led from start-to-finish to complete the straight-set win. Kroese, Thomas and freshman Elyse Wright each had two kills for the YellowJackets.

LeTourneau will wrap up its participation at the ASC Inter-pod Tournament hosted by UT Tyler on Saturday with contests against Hardin-Simmons at 10 a.m. and Howard Payne at noon.
