Three members of the LeTourneau University volleyball team set season-high marks in a five-set loss -26-24, 24-26, 25-21, 22-25, 15-17 – to Centenary on Friday evening in the LeTourneau University Invitational.

The YellowJackets (7-25) were engaged in a tightly contested match throughout the evening. In the defeat, Alli Bordelon registered a season-high 38 digs, Dolores Kroese tallied a season-high 19 kills and Sarah Krippner dished out a season-high 54 assists. Alexia Thomas tied a season-high with 19 kills. LeTourneau outhit the visitors by a .156 to .114 margin.

The Ladies (5-24) were led by the 19 kill, 19 dig effort of Brooke Bahlinger. Plus, Rachel Perkins (11 kills, 14 digs) and Sarah Sumner (12 kills and 28 digs) had double-double performances.

For LeTourneau, Krippner recorded her team-best ninth double double as she had 15 digs to go along with 54 assists and Kroese had her sixth double double of the season as she recorded 20 digs to go along with 19 kills.

To start the contest, the host YellowJackets closed out the first set on a 10-1 run after falling behind 23-16. To spark the run, Kroese had three of her seven kills in the set following stellar passing from Krippner to lead LeTourneau for the 26-24 win.

LeTourneau started the second set with a quick 5-0 lead on the strength of the service game of Krippner but the visitors came back and eventually went on a 7-1 spurt to take an 18-17 lead midway through the set. The lead went back and forth as Centenary rallied from facing a set point at 24-23 to score the final three points to tie the match at a set apiece with a 26-24 win.

The YellowJackets led start to finish in the third set as Thomas had five of her 19 kills to lead the LETU attack. Bordelon had six digs to start the attack in the set; plus Kroese and Mackenzie Davies came off the bench to contribute five each.

Centenary, much like LeTourneau in the third set, led from start to finish. The Shreveport, Louisiana-based institution started the set with a 10-4 lead and never looked back. Rachel Perkins and Brooke Bahling each had three kills to pace the Ladies and force a fifth and deciding set.

The fifth set epitomized the match as momentum went back and forth. LETU raced out to a 4-2 lead until Centenary came back to tie the match at 4. The match was tied again on four more occasions with the YellowJackets fending off two set points until back-to-back kills by Bahlinger and Sarah Sumner clinched the win for the visitors.

LeTourneau will close out the season with its final two home matches of the season on Saturday when they host Rust College at noon and the University of Dallas at 6 p.m. at Solheim Arena.
