Volleyball Diary #3

Here is what Sophomore Right Side Hitter Alexia Thomas from Rockville, Maryland had to say about last week for the Lady Jackets:

This past week has been very exciting for the Yellowjacket volleyball team. Our first game this week was on Wednesday against Centenary.  We were all extremely excited to have a home game so that we could invite friends to watch the game.

Nothing could have prepared us for what we saw when the game started.

There were more fans than any of us had ever seen! It was incredible. Our fans were an amazing encouragement as we battled against Centenary throughout the night. Each set we came from behind and pulled off the win for the whole match (3-0).  The energy from our fans pumped us up for our games the weekend.

We started the morning with a battle against Jarvis Christian College. They were great competition for us. We constantly reminded each other to keep our opponents on their toes. If we ever gave them a easy ball, then they gave us what we deserved... Which was not pretty on our side of the court. We had to work for our points and ended up with a win (3-0).

The second game against Wiley was a pretty good match as well.  This team was composed of amazing athletes who made very few errors. Although they were a bit intimidating, our defense did not let up.  They were a very strong team and we fell to them (0-3).

This weekend was the conclusion of our preseason playing, which means we start our conference games next weekend. We were excited to get some wins under our belt as we go into the next phase of our season!
