Women's Basketball: 19-3 Run by LeTourneau Women's Basketball Leads YellowJackets to 76-63 win over Centenary

A 19-3 run midway through the second half surged the visiting LeTourneau University women's basketball team to a 76-63 win over Centenary on Saturday afternoon in Shreveport.

The YellowJackets (2-1) were led by the double double performance of junior Kim Wallace, who had 20 points and 16 rebounds in 22 minutes of action off the bench. The run was fueled by the play of sophomore guard Ashley Reed (pictured below), who scored 13 of her career-high 16 points in the run. All 16 of the points for Reed came in the final 20 minutes as LeTourneau outscored Centenary, 50-38 and shot 48.6% from the field for the win.
 
The Ladies (0-4) were led by the 15-point efforts from DeiAnna Hall and Rebecca Thompson. Centenary was held to 35.8% shooting from the field. In both of the wins for LETU, they have held their opponents to under 36% shooting from the field.  
 
In the win, the LETU bench outscored Centenary, 38-7 – 20 of which came from Wallace. Wallace kept the YellowJackets in the game for the first 20 minutes with 16 first half points. The junior had a put back with less than a second left before intermission that put the visitors ahead 26-25.
 
Ashley ReedThe game remained close throughout the first half and early into the second half. With the game, tied at 31, Wallace – who earned the start in the second half – picked up a weak-side offensive rebound and immediately went up with it to start the decisive run for the YellowJackets. In the run, LETU scored nine unanswered points and another contributor to the run was Meagan Peters, who scored a career-high 13 points. Also earning the second half start was Abril Wright, who scored eight points and six rebounds for the YellowJackets.
 
Next on the schedule for LETU is the start of American Southwest Conference play on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
