The LeTourneau University men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting Central Baptist College on Friday evening.
The YellowJackets (1-3) gave up a goal on a deflection inside the box in the 80
th minute to Patrick Borchman of the visiting Mustangs that proved to be the difference. Despite the loss, LETU sophomore
Hunter Swift added a goal and an assist in the loss.
The Mustangs (2-2-1) scored all three of their goals in the second half in the win. Callum Morris led the Mustangs attack with seven shots and goalkeeper Brady Harvey made four saves.
Swift gave LETU an early 1-0 lead in the 24
th minute when he picked up a deflection off a
Raul Saldana corner kick. Then, Nicholas Doyle tied the contest in the 57
th minute on an unassisted goal for CBC. Borchman scored his first goal of the contest on a shot to the top right to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage in the 71
st minute.
Just over a minute later, LeTourneau equalized when sophomore
Jacob Alldredge took a volley to the upper right of the goal after getting a sensational flick pass from Swift to tie the contest at 2. The match remained close as Borchman found the back of the net for the game-winning goal in the 80
th minute.Â
Despite the loss, LETU sophomore goalkeeper
Miguel Cabrera made 11 saves in the defeat. Alldredge had four of the 10 shots for the YellowJackets.
The next match for the LETU men's soccer team is a trip to Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday, Sept. 20 where they will take on Southwestern Assemblies of God at 3 p.m.
