Men's Basketball: LeTourneau Loses to Texas Dallas, 77-63

A 23-9 run to start the game led the University of Texas-Dallas to a 77-63 win over the LeTourneau University men's basketball team on Saturday in Richardson.

The YellowJackets (4-9, 2-6 ASC) had 11-different individuals break into the scoring ledger in the defeat. Three different individuals – Jake Kennedy, Giovanny Thompson and CJ Edwards – each had seven to pace LeTourneau. Thompson pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked two shots in the loss for LETU.

The Comets (10-3, 5-3 ASC) spread the scoring among nine players including Rafael Farley, who had a double double with a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds in the win. He was joined in double digits by Nolan Harvey, who had 12 points. Farley had 18 of his 23 and Harvey had nine of his 12 in the first 20 minutes as UTD built a 47-23 halftime lead on the strength of 55.6% shooting in the first half

LeTourneau trailed on the scoreboard for most of the contest but that did not phase the YellowJackets, who fought hard throughout the contest. In the second 20 minutes, the YellowJackets turned up the defensive intensity and held the Comets to 28.1% (9-for-32) shooting. On a pair of occasions, LETU cut the deficit to 21 as a result of a 9-2 run early into the second half.

The YellowJackets will look to end its four-game losing skid when it returns home to host Howard Payne University on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to dress up as the favorite comics character at the game.
