Following the eighth tie of the game, host Concordia scored the final six points of the game to come away with a 53-47 win over the LeTourneau University women's basketball team on Monday night.

The YellowJackets (3-8, 1-5 ASC) overcame an 8-0 spurt behind the play of sophomore guard
Ashley Reed, who scored 10 points in the second half. The Cedar Hill native brought the YellowJackets back with five-straight points with LETU trailing 47-42 to tie the contest. Reed was joined in double digits by senior
Rebecca Stewart, who had 13 points - nine of which came in the first half – and junior
Ashley Stephens, who had 10 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

The Tornados (4-6, 3-3 ASC) were led by a game-high 16-point effort from reserves Kayla Strobel, who hit three 3 pointers in the win. Strobel and the Concordia bench outscored LeTourneau, 27-8 in the win. Furthermore, Concordia - who has never lost to LeTourneau in Austin - sealed the game with four-consecutive free throws after an Ally Terry jumper with 3:05 left to play.

LeTourneau built a pair of early seven-point leads in the first half but each time Concordia had an answer. With the YellowJackets holding a 15-8 lead with 8:07 to play in the first 20 minutes, Concordia scored the next nine points for its first lead, 17-15 with 2:35 to play. Then, the lead went back and forth on a pair of occasions until LETU sophomore
Bria Goodman ended the first half with a pair of free throws to put the visitors ahead 27-25 at the halftime break. At halftime, LeTourneau had held Concordia to 29.6% shooting – the lowest output by a YellowJacket opponent in a half. With the cold shooting by the Tornados, the YellowJackets were shooting 43.5% from the field.

The game remained close in the second half with the game being tied on five more occasions with LETU going on an 8-0 run for a 40-38 lead with 8:26 to play. The Tornados answered with a 9-0 run, punctuated at the end by a 3-pointer by Strobel for a 47-40 lead with 4:54 remaining. Once again, the lead was not safe, the YellowJackets rallied behind Reed to tie the game at 47 with 3:15 to play.

The YellowJackets will remain on the road for its next two games, starting with a matchup against Hardin-Simmons on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
