LETU Volleyball Breaks Service Ace Marks and Records Two Wins

The LeTourneau University volleyball team swept both of its matches in straight sets with wins over Rust College and Dillard College on Friday at the 2015 Centenary Halloween Volleyball Tournament.

The YellowJackets (11-18) set a pair of records in its 25-4, 25-4, 25-4 win over Rust College to begin the day. The YellowJackets served 33 aces to eclipse the American Southwest Conference record for a match and a three-set match, in addition to breaking the school marks. The 33 aces are the second most by a team in NCAA Division III in 2015. LETU junior Jenny Olejar had 11 service aces in the win, joining freshman Bri Smith and junior Mackenzie Davies, who had eight and six, respectively. Previously, LeTourneau had the ASC match record with 32 services in a five-set match vs. Dallas Christian; plus, they shattered their own record of 19 in a three-set match.

The LeTourneau attack was potent with a .613 hitting percentage that saw the YellowJackets with 23 kills on 31 attempts. Sophomore Savanna Stutts had four kills to lead the attack.

In the nightcap against Dillard, LeTourneau swept the Bleu Devils in straight sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.

The YellowJackets had a balanced attack with senior Kayla Ronda, sophomore A.J. Campbell and junior Dolores Kroese leading the way. Ronda had nine kills, five digs and three service aces in the win. Campbell and Kroese each added eight kills to the win, plus Campbell had a pair of block assists and Kroese added eight digs to the win.

Junior Jenny Olejar and sophomore Nicole Mosley continued the strong service game for LETU with three and two service aces, respectively. Olejar had a hand on a block solo and five block assists to go along with five kills; in addition, Mosley had a match-high 24 assists to go along with seven digs. Senior Alli Bordelon added a match-high 19 digs to go along with four assists.
