Women's Basketball: LETU Loses to Northwestern, 73-44

LeTourneau University women's basketball dropped a 73-44 decision to NCAA Division I, Northwestern State in an exhibition game on Natchitoches, Louisiana in Prather Coliseum.
 
The YellowJackets were led by a 12-point, 5-rebound effort from junior Jada Roberts (pictured) in the loss. LETU spread its scoring among 11-different players as they were held to 26.2% (16-for-61) shooting in the defeat.
 
The Demons (1-0), who are picked to finish second in the Southland Conference title, shot 51.9% (28-for-54) from the field. Beatrice Attura led four NSU players in double figures with 19 points. Joining Attura in double figures were Emerald Mayfield (16 points), Cheyenne Brown (13 points) and Sami Thomas (12 points). Northwestern State outrebounded LETU by a 45-37 margin in the win.
 
In the new four-quarter format, Northwestern State raced out to a 22-6 advantage in the first 10 minutes. NSU shot a blazing 60.7% (17-for-28) in the first half en route to a 43-22 advantage.
 
Next, LeTourneau will host Southwestern University on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Solheim Arena to open the 2015-16 portion of the schedule.
